Introducing ProTime: Billable Hours for People Who Work for Themselves

ProTime is out now on Google Play and Galaxy Store. It is a billable-hours app for people who work for themselves — independent lawyers, tax and accounting professionals, coaches, architects, therapists, consultants — and it covers the whole loop from starting the clock to getting paid. There is no account and no server; everything stays on your phone.

Why another time tracker

Most time trackers are made for teams. They come with workspaces, projects, tags and reports for a manager, and someone in solo practice ends up using a tenth of the app and still adding up the money in a spreadsheet at the end of the month. What a solo professional needs is narrower: for each client or matter, how much time went in, what they paid out on the client's behalf, how much has been paid, and how much is still owed. And then a way to ask for the rest.

The words of your trade

The first thing ProTime asks is what you do, and from then on it uses your words.

ProfessionWhat the app calls things
Independent lawyercase · court date · court fees
Tax / accounting professionalengagement · filing deadline · filing fees
Coach / mentorclient · session · materials
Architect / designerproject · site review · materials
Psychologist / therapistclient · session · assessment fees
Independent consultantengagement · meeting · travel costs

It sounds small, but it is the difference between an app that feels like it was made for your work and one you have to translate in your head every time you open it.

Hours or sessions

The Today screen opens on the case you worked on last, so starting the timer is one tap, and it shows today's billable time and earnings at a glance. Some work is billed by the hour and some by the session, so each case can use either. A session is billed at its full price however long it runs — and its real length is still recorded, which is worth knowing the day you wonder whether your session price is too low.

Expenses belong to the case. Court fees, filing fees, materials and travel that you paid for the client are logged against the case with a photo of the receipt, so they end up on the bill instead of in your own pocket.

Every case keeps a running total: time or sessions, expenses, what the client has paid and what is still due. There is nothing to add up at the end of the month.

Getting paid

When it is time to collect, ProTime turns the balance into a payment request. It can generate a VietQR code with the amount and the transfer reference already filled in, so the client scans it in their banking app and the money arrives labelled; or it can add your own payment link or bank details. You send the request through whatever the client actually reads — a messaging app or email — and the case moves through three states: Not sent, Awaiting payment, Paid. Marking it paid is one tap, with undo. Anything you log after a payment is billed on its own, so a client is never asked for the same hour twice.

The free plan keeps three cases open at a time — cases that are fully paid do not count — and shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads never appear on a payment request or its QR code, because that is the screen your client sees. ProTime Pro, a monthly or yearly subscription, removes the limit and the ads, and drops the "Sent from ProTime" line from payment requests. The privacy policy sets out exactly what the app stores and what the ad SDK can see.

Frequently asked questions

Who is ProTime for?

Independent professionals who bill for their time: lawyers, tax and accounting professionals, coaches, architects, therapists and consultants. It is built for one person running their own practice, not for a team with managers and timesheets.

Can I bill by the session instead of by the hour?

Yes. Each case is billed either by the hour or by the session. A session is billed at its full price however long it runs, and the real length is still recorded.

Where is my data stored?

On your phone. There is no account and no server, so your clients, hours, expenses and payment requests are never uploaded. The free plan shows ads from Google AdMob, which never appear on a payment request or its QR code.
