Which form a suffix takes depends on the vowels in the word it attaches to. Hungarian vowels split into front and back groups, and suffixes come in matching versions — this is why the same case ending appears as -ban on one word and -ben on another. Get the harmony wrong and the word is not merely accented oddly, it is malformed.
